Buckeye, Golden Buff and now JAVA Chickens are pasture raised at Goatfeathers Point for on-farm, self-serve egg sales, $3.00 a dozen. Look for the egg shingle at the farm for availability. The Buckeye chickens are an Ohio breed developed in Warren by Nettie Metcalf; and the Java are one of the oldest breeds of chicken in the Americas. Both are dual purpose (eggs & meat) birds with small combs that are great at free ranging. The Buckeyes are very personable, great for a backyard set-up. And the Java are large with long legs.
